감정이 메말랐어, 영어로?

"He is cold."

라고 하면 되지만..

좀 더 자연스럽고 감칠맛나게 표현하자면,

"He is such a cold person." 

이라고 하시면 됩니다. 

 

"He is cold . He should put on his sweater"

이 문장이 맞는걸까요? 틀린걸까요?

100% 맞는 문장입니다.

대신 의미가 감정이 메마른게 아니라 cold의 1차적인 의미인 '춥다'는걸 의미합니다.

 

He is warm.

He is hot.

He is hungry.

He is thirsty.

He is tired.

따라서 위의 다섯 문장도 다 맞는 말입니다.

 명사: 무시, 냉대

 동사: 차갑게 대하다.(냉대하다.)

많은 분들이 똑같은 뜻으로 알고 계시더라구요.

그렇지만 염연히 다른 뜻입니다.

 

1. cold-hearted: 냉정한, 인정없는

 1) If you think she is coldhearted, you are mistaken.

 (그녀가 냉정한 여자라고 생각한다면 그건 너의 오해이다.)

 2) He's so cold-hearted that I bet he wouldn't even bleed if I cut him.

 (그는 찔러도 피 한 방울 안 날 것 같다.)

 

2. cold-blooded: 냉혈한, 냉혹한, 피도 눈물도 없는

 1) He is heartless[merciless; cold-blooded; hard as nails].

 (그는 피도 눈물도 없는 인간이다.)

 2) He was condemned as a cold-blooded and heartless brute. 

 (그는 피도 눈물도 없는 인간으로 매도되었다.)

 3) He solves the mysterious murder case with cold-blooded decisiveness. 

 (그는 냉철한 판단력으로 연쇄 살인의 미스터리를 풀어나갑니다.)

 4) He's brilliant, and yet he's a cold-blooded killer.
